We will grow in 4th grade!

#growthmindset

This year your child will experience great growth coming from the lower elementary grades.  In fourth grade there are high expectations for students to become more independent and responsible learners.

As a teacher, I believe in teaching the whole student academically, socially and  emotionally.  Academically, fourth graders will be reading to learn rather than learning how to read, and they are expected to have their math facts and basic skills mastered.  These math skills are needed to learn the more difficult concepts introduced in fourth grade. Socially, they will increase their collaboration skills by working with spontaneous small groups within our classroom and other fourth grade classes. Emotionally, they will grow in being able to identify and advocate for their emotional security.

Fourth graders are given a variety of opportunities to shine throughout the year! Some of those opportunities include participation in collaborative projects with other 4th grade classes, student council, Battle of the Books, book buddies, and being role models for the students in the primary grades. As leaders of Frontier Valley, they will be expected to demonstrate all of the qualities of being part of the H.E.R.D (Honesty, Encouraging, Respectful and Dedicated) in all that they do.
